Experience and know-how, combined with a knack for innovation and a corporate philosophy that emphasizes customer-oriented solutions and strong customer support, have made Austria’s Posch GmbH the leading supplier of firewood equipment in Europe. Never one to rest on its laurels, Posch recently gave visitors to LIGNA 2009, the forestry and wood industry trade fair held during mid-May in Hannover, Germany, a close-up look at three new products that underscore the company’s leadership role in this important industrial niche.
In the broadest possible sense, this niche addresses the fact that while Nature may provide us with huge quantities of firewood, it does not necessarily do so in manageable units. From kindling to neatly split and bundled firewood, Posch’s three new machines for Summer 2009 will have retailers and end users of firewood neatly positioned for the fall and winter heating season.
The first of the three machines to make sparks fly at LIGNA was Posch’s “AutoSplit”, a new machine that turns both round and square timber into convenient, prepackaged bundles of kindling with just a 3-second cycle time. A 2.3 meter- long timber charging unit and an infinitely adjustable, hydraulically controlled feed
mechanism make the process of turning timber into handy kindling mere child’s play. Once the timber has passes the unit’s V-shaped splitting knife, two different packing systems give users the option of providing loosely packed or neatly stacked kindling to their customers.
Sharing center stage with the AutoSplit at LIGNA 2009 was a new addition to Posch’s tried and true family of “SplitMaster“ firewood splitters. Dubbed the “SplitMaster 20”, this newcomer makes splitting firewood even more convenient and ergonomic with its socalled “Option Y”, a special “Easy” splitting knife that expands on existing SplitMaster technology to effortlessly split logs into four parts – two on top and two on bottom. In the SplitMaster 20 system, the two parts at the bottom are optimally sized for storage and subsequent processing, while the two parts on the top are pulled back from the “wings“ of the splitting knife by means of a lumber pick. These are then rolled onto the lifting de vice or into the splitting trough and then split again as often as needed until the ideal size is achieved.
With its splitting power of 20 tons, the SplitMaster 20 splits logs up to a length of 1.10 m and diameters of 60 cm with virtually no effort. Interestingly, the splitter also comes standard with Autospeed function, which offers pressure-controlled switching between the machine’s two splitting speeds. Finally, Posch treated LIGNA fairgoers to a new and improved version of the company’s popular PackFix accessory for pallet wrapping the copious number of billets created by Posch’s wood splitters. The new version, called the “PackFix Hydro”, works in the same simple but sublime way as the original PackFix and also adds three new models with various advantages.
The three models include Pack Fix Hydro (stationary), in which packs are transported by means of a front-end loader, forklift truck, wheel loader or other equipment. With PackFix Hydro (mobile), the billet packs can be conveniently wrapped on the tractor and also transported with it. Finally, PackFix Hydro (universal) allows cooperatives to wrap billet packs both in mobile and stationary modes. In mobile operation, the packs are wrapped and transported with the tractor. In stationary operation, the packs can be wrapped without tractor by means of an electric motor drive. The billet packs are transported with front-end loader, stacker, farm wheel loader or other machinery.
As Europe’s leader in firewood equipment, Austria’s Posch GmbH offers a product range covering a wide variety of machines and accessory products that make firewood preparation easier and more convenient – from handy tilting table saws for private use, to a wide range of log splitters for short and meter-long logs for agriculture and specialized and industrial equipment for trade and industry. Posch creates high quality products that also bear the coveted CE and GS conformity and safety marks.
