New Investment Casting Line

One of Germany’s best-known foundries, Zollern GmbH, is celebrating the company’s 300th anniversary and 10th generation of family management with a new investment casting line operating on the lost wax principle. The new line relies on two Power&Free conveyor systems designed, manufactured and installed by KEWESTA GmbH. The Zollern installation is a feather in the cap of KEWESTA, a mid-sized conveyor specialist co-founded at Erlensee, Germany, in 1971 by Dipl.-Ing. Phillip Weber and Richard Adam Roth. Although competition for the Zollern project was intense, KEWESTA won the much-coveted contract based on a stellar reputation for quality, commitment and top-notch customer service.

LumaSense Technologies AS, the Denmark-based subsidiary of LumaSense Technologies (Santa Clara, California, USA) has underscored its role as a leading European provider of temperature and gas sensing solutions by announcing the first in a new family of gas analysis instruments for use in a wide variety of industrial applications. Called the INNOVA 1316 Multi Gas Monitor, the new instrument is capable of measuring a customer-specified set of up to five gases at a very affordable price.

Germany’s Sauer & Sohn KG continues to leverage its extensive expertise in LaserCUSING to benefit of customers requiring rapid prototyping of workpieces with complex geometries. Working directly from 3D-CAD data, LaserCUSING is a layer-by-layer process that uses a scanning laser to fuse single-component metallic powders to produce full density components that are free of both stress and deformation. The components typically have complex geometries that would otherwise be impractical or impossible to create with conventional machining methods and can be quickly produced in very small lots or even as one-off prototypes.

Germany’s Kugler GmbH, the internationally acclaimed expert in precision micromachining, has announced an innovative new tool measurement system that integrates with the company’s latest MICROGANTRY machining systems. The new optical measurement system, which uses a unique high-speed strobe to capture and measure tool contours during actual in-process machining, is especially relevant for micromilling, where machining quality and tool state cannot be observed visually by the operator and where all referencing processes must commonly be performed with micron precision.
